The Tale of a Weekend Well Fought!
Well, there we have it! The first 9 point weekend for the Watt! It all started on a windy and overcast day in Rosyth where the 1's took on Carnegie's 2's. This was a vital game and defeat of either team may result in their relegation. The game went reasonably well for the Watt with some good expansive hockey being played at times. However more importantly the Watt managed to master what has until now been the weak link in their armour; the team successfully closed the game down, giving Carnegie very little of the ball by playing accurate short passes. The marking was mostly of a high standard by all players. It was a lesson to all in how to grind out a result in what was a physical match, the Watt looked dangerous throughout the 70 minutes and the scoreline of 1-0 didn't do them justice. Many thanks to Sophie for umpiring and having to put up with undeserved amounts of abuse from our favourite fat fifish goalkeeper (Fucking retard!)
Starting 45 minutes later in Kirkcaldy the 2's were playing Carnegie's 5th team. By all accounts the Watt smothered Carnegie for the whole game and were unfortunate not to score more than 2. With the goals coming from Sean and then Sam. Carnegie had drawn level in the middle of the match, but hey! Who cares? We won! A guest appearance was made on the sidelines by the infamous 'Tommy' it was his attendance at the game in the 2nd half which provoked the Watt onslaught and the goal by Sam. In all a good result, it was good to see the goals come from somewhere other than Bungle however the concensus is that the watt would have won by a far greater margin had the goal machine been present! Thanks to Ginge for umpiring, by all accounts a vast improvement from previous attempts.
Then finally, on Sunday the icing on the cake. With the 1's facing a difficult home game to Stirling Uni, the away fixture had resulted in the Watt receiving a 5-0 thumping (our last defeat). And it was on a wave of confidence after 3 wins on the trot that the Watt took to the pitch confident that the diffence in places in the table was a fallacy and that we were the Superior team. Learning from the previous days victory the Watt went out from the start keeping the game tight and giving Stirling very little possession. The Watt took the lead 15 mins in only to see Stirling equalise 2 mins later and so the score remained until half-time. The Watt came out in the 2nd half confident after their first half performance which had seen Stirling largely on the back foot. Mid-way throught the half the Watt scored twice with a goal from eddie and a second from Flymo. This sealed the game and Stirling floundered helplessly trying to respond to the Watt having turned up the tempo. A very good result finishing off the weekend rather nicely. Yet again another masterclass by the Watt in possession hockey. Many thanks to Krebs for umpiring in Watt in my opinion was the umpiring performance of the weekend, he was quick on the whistle and firm with his decisions, kept the game under control well and with performances like that is surely to progress to a higher level of officiating. After the game the Watt contributed to the downfall of one of the Stirling Freshers by causing him to consume a dirty pint and then contributing to it financially and physically (Thank you very much Mr Ewer).
After one very suuccessful weekend we shall hopefully have another, and here are the arrangements for it! The 1's are playing at 2.30 at Royal High and shall be followed at 4 by the 2's. The 2's then have the last 16 of the cup on Sunday away to Dundee Wanderers IV. 'Mon the Watt!
Love Nick x

Well done lads! A very successful weekend all round indeed.
Can i just ask what the arrangements for this rules night thingy are? Do we get to sit the test straight after it? Is there a test at all? How do we get there? etc etc etc...
If you head to www.east-hockey.org.uk and go to umpiring there is a sample test for you to try. At the rules night they go over the rules, you do the test in a time limit and if you pass all you have to do is get watched before September by i think at least a C and a B badge and if they think you are good enough you are badged. Hope thats helped you out
On a more important matter, the girlies are playing Manchester on Wednesday at Peffermill at 2pm. Be there and bring as many people as possible. Oh and everyone better be out o wednesday night for 1 last big effort and to celebrate with us (or me at least).
Love ya

Well we only listened to some discussiony type stuff about the rules, was reasonably useful but no test which was a bit dissapoiting. Hopefully however a rules AND test night will be organised here at the watt for all to become nice badged umpires. Mary.
It was a shame about the lack of a test, but the evening was quite interesting nonetheless! Sadly there was one female who required to be ritually sacrificed in a very painful and artistic way. It never happened. Ah well....
On the plus side, there were a good few girlies well worth a go if one is that way inclined, which I think everyone there was.
Big up to the wifey that took the evening, she managed to make a horrendously boring subject not seem all that bad really. Coupled with anecdotes about various olympics and the rather good admission that no one has heard of any hockey players ever, made her at least appear human, which for an A+++++ graded umpire, is a fair achievement!
So is everyone clear now, GOALIES CAN DO WHAT EVER THEY WANT WITHOUT PENALTY.
In reply to Yettis Burd, where were the other Burds? A dissapointing lack of attendance.
Boo.
On a final note, many thanks to ray for his remote guidance of the Corsa, without that we would still be rolling about the new town cursing and swearing about the lack of signage and by this point, definately in need of Pizza.
A note to town planners:
Other towns have invested, quite heavily, in large flat metal objects on posts, with all sorts of writing, arrows and lines on them. They are called signs. Why not Edinburgh, its the capital city for god sake. Surely we can afford a few. (Well apart from those that are nicked my captain Kirk.)
I love you all

In reply to Mog our ladies (some of which went earlier in the year to a rules night and either passed or like myself failed miserably... again) were taking advantage of having a full pitch and preparing ourselves for our match V Manchester on Wednesday. 2pm push back.
Good luck to the 2nds on sunday for their cup match at good all DISC.
Love ya

The cup match now appears to be at 2.30 having spoken to the lad again, cheers!

The girlies better win, i will miss Neigbours AND Murder, She Wrote! What kind of mischief will jessica fletcher encounter today?
Well done to the girlies! 5-3 apparently or so i heard. Good luck in the next round of the competition! Sorry I couldn't be there to watch, had projects to finish off and hand in. Will be there for next round if i can. Well done ladies.
Lalalalalala, oh, btw, Kevin Keegan has just quit man city.
I dont care but you might!
I have a new keyboard for my computer, i feel really good as a result of this.
The pope is still living, i think he has another good 5/6 years left in him. Watch this space.
Mushroom cup-a-soups are ok, but not as nice as chicken and veg.
Ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba, ba ba ba ba ba ba, ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba, ba ba ba ba ba ba, a town called malice.
Thanks kevin, you gave the city back some self respect.
The blue moon.
An excellent win for the 1's today, a very dominating 6-0 win against Greenock. One yellow card from krebs shortly followed by a red, a very rare sight these days in the world of hockey. Good on ya Krebsy.
Incidentally the 2's game was called off due to lack of stilring uni players, which is nice i suppose.
Still there was all that free food to look forward too......although we got to the Inn and waited for abotu an hour, before food finally appeared and what did we get, 3 measly plate fulls to do both teams and invited guests (the 2's).
Ah well shit happens, the ladies played before the 1's with a considerably weakened side and only 10 players. This proved to be the hindering factor, but they managed to ground out a reasonable 1-1 draw with whoever they were playing (think it was watsonians.) anyway, that's my round up of teh days events. See you all at 11am tomorrow morning for that glorious trip to dundee! Come on the Watt!
It's official. Raith Rovers, having been beaten 2-1 at home to St Johnstone today, are the first team in the UK to be offcially relegated. Tis a sad day for all raith rovers fans (all 10 of them that is) :(
Just a few corrections, that food was actually meant to feed 4 teams!!!! Wot are we? Ants! And the Ladies were playing George Heriots.
On the note of tomorrow, we will win or there will be public executions taking place, this is a competition which we can and deserve to win, the cup is the only thing we have left to go for this season so I want everybody to give everything that they have. I don't want to see one person physically capable of completing the warm-down, I want to see every ball being chased, tight marking, good passes and most importantly intelligent hockey!!! Again it's a question of how badly every man on the team wants it? Ask yourself that before you step on the pitch!!!!!
Love Nick x
I want it alot. Mainly cause i have ALOT to prove about my ability. I know that I have to show i am capable of being a quality striker by the end of this season, otherwise next season will just be the same, especially if we get some good freshers in.
Also my parents, and possibly my girl are comign to watch, so tis very important u make me all look as good as possible! thanks guys.
You have a girl Mary? Are you sure? Does she know about this?
Oh btw thanks for the vote of confidence on my hardline approach to yesterdays game, but bearing in mind it was Yetti who handed out the cards and not myself!
I dont think the other umpire (I forget her "official" name, was too pleased though, but thats the way these things go, there had been a yellow card handed out to someone already, so the lust for blood was high! Thanks to Sophie for umpiring also. B.T.W. where the hell was the Weegie umpire? Or should I say the Greenock umpire, as people from Glasgow would take umbridge at being put in the same town as Greenock
In response to Yettis Burd about my last comment on this, yes, yes I was very bored indeed. And i wanted to provide you with entertainment and food for thought!
My thought for today is courtesy of the great Stranglers, "Walking on the beaches, looking at the peaches". Really its only a fantasy for Portobello but who knows, with global warming, Scotland might become tropical and we shall have a major nudity problem at Musselburgh and Portobello. Hmm, maybe not. As long as the sighthill massiv dinna start going about in Kappa Bikinis and Le Coq Sportif surfing trunks. Then we will be ok, min.
If anyone has wondered, i am just sitting here waiting for the meet on campus, which is why I am rambling, thanks to Ray for not telling me it was a 11am meet as opposed to the originally mooted 10am meet. I got a nice lie in.... actually, no, i didnt. I think my bladder is getting weak as i get older, i keep having to get up to the toilet in the middle of the night, and my Corns are playing up something rotten!
Anyway, i really canna justify writing anymore bollocks, just suffice to say I love you all
One or two more than others

Well lads, a dissapointing end to the weekend. 2-0 defeat in Dundee at the hands of the Wanderers. Lots of thinsg coudl be to blame: lack of composure in front of goal (MCGEE!!!), unlucky rebounds on the post, The sand based pitch, our small squad. But i think we'll all agree the realy reason we lost was becuase of teh shitty umpiring. Quoting Friar "One umpire was a dick, the other is Dick!" so no surprise really that all the decisions seemed to go against us then. We fought hard, and krebs was unluckily lobbed in the dying seconds from a short. There's alwasy next year lads....
"alwasy" indeed...
RE: original post
After the game the Watt contributed to the downfall of one of the Stirling Freshers by causing him to consume a dirty pint and then contributing to it financially and physically (Thank you very much Mr Ewer.
PERSONALLY, I DON'T LIKE THE LEVEL OF ENGLISH USED HERE, IT DOESN'T FLOW, THE REPITITION IS USED INAPPROPRIATELY AND DON'T GET ME STARTED ON THE PUNCTUATION!!!!!
BET YOU CAN'T WAIT TO SEND YOUR CHILDREN TO THE SCHOOL I WILL BE TEACHING AT.... IT MAY BE IN SPAIN, WHO KNOWS?
Friar, shut up! :-P
All my children will be going to schools in Arabia. Mainly coz they cost about £2 a term and the girls are hotter.
So if you teach in a School in Libya then there is a good chance you will see my kiddywinkles.
Or not.
Big up the Quines team in Nottingham today. Heres to an absolute trouncing of the English infidels.
Glooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooorrrreeeeeeeee

Glory glory glory, listen to our song, cause we're the Heriot Watt girls, were the best (cutest) team in the land, bring on you Nottingham wankers, bring on you Edinburgh scum, for we're the Heriot Watt girls, were the best team in the land, 2, 3, 4, We are blue we are white (yellow) we are fucking Dynamite, with a nick nack paddy whack, give the dog a bone, Heriot Watt Girls going home.
Thanks for that mog. Yes it was, sadly a loose for the girls 2-1 but in good watt spirit we were still the loudess and 1st at the bar.
All played well and, depite not having our strongest team, kept them at bay for most the match but lack of sleep and exam stress finally got the better of us as we slipped into a 2-1 position not long from the end and could then sadly not recover.
It is not recommended that u get up at 6 in the morning and fly down to nottingham for a hockey match.
Nottingham we will see you next year and the Watt will be triumphant.
Cheers for the support of Sam, Becca and Sophie with the air horn. It was much appreciated.
Love ya
