Changes afoot plus news of parties and games
Hear ye, Hear ye! I greet you all with news fresh from a meeting at the Sports Union! There is going to be a change to the way that training is run, meaning, we get a full pitch!!!! Monday night training shall be between the hours of 8 and 10 at peffermill and will now involve one hours fitness and one hours full pitch time. A rota will be put up explaining whether we've got skills or fitness first. We also have half a pitch booked for Thursday nights between 8.30 and 10. We may split this session between the 1's and 2's, doing half fitness and half skills, that is yet to be decided and will depend on what the captains feel will work best! Thursday night sessions will start in week 3.
After speaking to the clubs social convenors, a provisional date for pub golf has been set for week 3. This is however subject to change as we haven't told the girls yet! We also have Warm-up Wednesday coming. It's £4 in to the union and then a free bus to mood, there will be a lot of pint downing and games at the union, it's good fun! Be there or be a fud (to use Sean's word of the week)!
There is also discussion taking place about a possible 2 match series between the football team and the hockey team, as in - we play them at football and they play us at hockey. Then we all go to the pub (Where a boat race may take place, we just can't say!!!!)! It's a good chance for a bit of inter team mingling and a bit of banter.
Now for the serious matter of this weekends games. The first team kick off their season with what has traditionally been a bit of a bruiser against Hillhead 2's. This will take place at Royal High at 1pm. This is then followed by the 2's who take on Stirling Uni 2's at 2.30pm. Then we shall all pile down to the Village Inn for a bit of banter and a bevy (A prize to the first fresher who spots a trend here!).
This shall all be preceeded by a Freshers session tomorrow at 2pm at Peffermill. The freshers won't be down till 2.30 so feel free to get there early and have a knock about. If you would like to volunteer to drive freshers down please be at campus at 2pm, the more cars the better.
Any queries, just comment as per usual!
Love Nick x

If you can make your own way that would be grand as we'll need all the space that we can get for the freshers. You can catch a 2, 14, 30 or 33 to peffermill. They don't go right past the front gates thou so make sure that you get off early enough.

no problem chief.
Arite folks, since there has been like nothing on this website for ages, to let those who dont know, the watt is off to a pretty decent start, the 1s started their campaign off with a damn good 3-0 humping of Hillhead in a reasonably good tempered match.
The 2's didnt quite start so well but with Mary making a respectable start to his goalkeeping career for the 2's things look less bleak than they could.
This weekend however has been an out and out success for both teams with the 1's racking up a 3-1 victory away to Waverly Inveresk and the 2's taking apart Dungermaline Carnegie in a controversial match at Saughton.
Green Cards abounded in a game where one team did not seem to be able to keep their dirty Ned mouths shut.
The game started controversially with a goal chalked off for the watt as from a short corner, the ball was flicked beautifully mid height to the helpless goalkeepers left hand.
This angered the Dunfermline umpire who decided that goals cannot be scored when his team is on the recieving end of said goal and it was chalked off for offside or something.
The watt replied with gusto, netting once more before half time to go in with a goal lead at the interval.
The first half ended with carnegie lucky to be fielding 11 players as their "national league" striker tried to explain the rules of the game that he seems to know all the rules to. Hence him playing for their 7ths or summat.
On the flip side, the watt had been playing most of the first half with 12 players until skillfully counted by the Dunfermline umpire and wee mark made first moves for dick of the day.
The second half started slowly for both teams, the watt on the offensive went another goal up to be replied quickly by a carnegie counter attack. The score stood at a just 2-1, at this point the watt went mental with a 3rd and 4th being added, Bender ross firmly grasping dick of the day with a goal celebration full of X-rated language and walked straight into a green card after about 2 minutes on the pitch.
Late on Carnegie stole back another goal but it was too little to late with the watt running in a comfortable 4-2 victory!

I love you all
